Travel Tips
- Currency: Bahamian dollars are pegged 1:1 to US dollars, and US dollars are universally accepted. No need to exchange currency.
- Casino currency: All casinos operate in US dollars.
- Tipping: 15–20% expected at restaurants, $1–$2 for drinks, $1–$2 per bag for porters. Budget for tips — they add up.
- Hurricane season: June–November, peaking August–October. Travel insurance is essential during these months. Resorts have hurricane guarantees, but flights may be disrupted.
- Atlantis water park: Included for hotel guests; day passes available but limited. The Leap of Faith slide (60-foot near-vertical drop through a shark lagoon) is the famous thrill ride.
- Getting between resorts: Atlantis and Baha Mar are 20 minutes apart by taxi. Both are 15–20 minutes from the airport.
- Resort fees: Both Atlantis and Baha Mar charge daily resort fees ($40–60+) covering Wi-Fi, water park, and activities.
- Off-resort exploring: Nassau's Straw Market, Queen's Staircase, and Pirates of Nassau museum are worth a half-day. Junkanoo Beach is the closest free beach to the cruise port.

- Aquaventure Water Park — Atlantis's 141-acre water park with 20 swimming areas, 11 pools, and high-speed water slides. The centerpiece of any Atlantis visit.
- Marine habitats — Atlantis has 14 lagoons and 50,000+ marine animals. The Dig recreates the ruins of Atlantis. Predator Lagoon has sharks and rays.
- Pig Beach (Big Major Cay) — The famous swimming pigs of the Exumas, 30 minutes by plane or a day boat trip from Nassau. One of the Bahamas' most iconic experiences.
- Stingray City / snorkeling — Boat trips to shallow sandbars where you can snorkel with stingrays. Multiple operators run from Nassau.
- Blue Lagoon Island — Private island 3 miles from Nassau with dolphin encounters and beach relaxation.
- Exuma Cays — Day trips by boat or plane to the most beautiful waters in the Bahamas. Swimming pigs, iguanas, and Thunderball Grotto (filmed in James Bond).
- Harbour Island — Famous for its pink sand beaches. A short flight from Nassau. Worth 2–3 nights if you have time.
- Nassau historic sites — Queen's Staircase, Fort Fincastle, Government House, and the Pirates of Nassau museum. Walkable from the cruise port.
Dining Highlights
Atlantis has Nobu, Mesa Grill (Bobby Flay), and Café Martinique (historic, James Bond filmed here). Baha Mar has restaurants by Marcus Samuelsson and Katsuya. For local flavor, try conch salad from a roadside stand, cracked conch, and Bahamian macaroni and cheese. Graycliff Restaurant in Nassau is a historic fine-dining institution with one of the world's largest wine cellars.
